It is my pleasure to provide you with a testimony of my sincere thanks for all the arrangements that you made to ensure that our trip to Ukraine was a success. I obtained information about OLYANNA TRAVEL through the internet without any recommendation. OLYANNA TRAVEL was the only contact for me to organize a trip aimed to visit the towns that my ancestors left in the beginning of the 20th Century to migrate to Argentina. It was very little information that we had from the towns and we were even not sure that it was correct.Through you, and your correspondents in Kiev, we established an itinerary and made the arrangements for the tickets and the itinerary. By mail we discussed the itinerary and the best accommodation for us. You provided us with the best Five Star accommodation in Kiev and in Odessa. The most important for us was the travel by car in Ukraine, accompanied by a guide and a driver. Our guide was Ms Irina TRANTYNA, a very experienced woman, fluent in English (and in French). Irina was perfectly informed about the places we visited and she showed us even new towns that were not in our itinerary. We visited Kiev and its Jewish neighbourhood. With Irina and Sacha, our driver, we made our way to Uman and Nemirov, Shargorod and Bershad, Chichelnik and Balta. In each of these towns, there are still important reminders of Jewish life old and abandoned cemeteries and houses, tombs of extremely well-known hassidic rabbis, testimony of the atrocities and vestiges of Jewish life. In each village, we received explanations and asked questions to check the stories that had told our grandfathers (the train station in Chichelnik, the synagogue in Shargorod were one of my ancestors was killed during a pogrom). We also visited the Welfare Centre for the Jewish still living in Balta funded by the JDC. The three days spent in the Londonskaya Hotel in Odessa just in front of the Black Sea and at some meters of the Opera House were also glorious. We had also the possibility to visit the city with a very well trained guide and driver. The trip was a success. I am grateful to your professionalism and talent to present Ukraine to very demanding people. Francoise and Natan Elkin, Geneva, June 2008 Back to top
